Park City’s Ultimate Action Sports Destination

Park City is famous for numerous events and attractions, especially those which feature sports, and winter sports in particular. With this in mind, we are pleased to suggest a visit to Woodward Park City. A recent addition to our neck of the woods, Woodward Park City is more than a ski resort—it’s a year-round sports facility featuring more than 60 acres of state-of-the-art action hubs and mountain parks. You’ll find skiing, lift-accessed snowboarding, two-surfaced lift tubing (featuring the longest lanes in Utah), and both indoor and outdoor facilities for BMX, skateboarding, and more.

Whether you’re an athlete who trains daily or an occasional sports enthusiast, you can take advantage of WPC’s facility both day and night, 365 days a year. The younger set will benefit from lessons in tumbling, trampoline, and other activities where they can safely learn at their own pace. Families and individuals can take advantage of classes, clinics, drop-in sessions, day sessions, summer day camps, lift tickets, and all-access tickets. For more information, call us at (877) 649-3600, and don’t forget to inquire about discounts for military, first responders, repeat guests, and AAA members.

A Toast to Three of Park City’s Best Cocktails

Like craft beer, unconventional wines, and small-batch spirits, the cocktail has come into its own. Modern mixologists have shaken up the traditional Bloody Marys and Martinis to feature more creative combinations. For three of Park City’s best, check out our list below.

High West Saloon

With a list of over 124 original libations that vary seasonally, High West has been touted by such prestigious publications as Esquire, Saveur, Whiskey Advocate, and the New York Times, and was selected by Men’s Journal as one of the “Ten Best Ski-in, Ski-out Bars in the World.” We particularly recommend the Dead Man’s Boots, a delicious blend of rye, tequila, lime juice, and ginger beer.

Royal Street Cafe

Here you’ll find seasonal cocktails made both traditionally and with the cafe’s own unique variations. The Blueberry Mojito is one of our personal faves.

St. Regis Lounge

This is the spot for Bloody Mary lovers, and they also offer an abundant menu of signature cocktails. Don’t forget to sign up for their text deals.

Three of the Best Places for Fall Hiking in Park City

Whether the trail leads you through colorful autumn woods, winds through towering trees, or takes your breath away atop a magnificent summit, Park City offers some of the best hiking adventures around. Listed below are three of our favorites.

PC Hill

At a little over a mile, this moderate and fun hike is just opposite Park City Mountain Resort. The summit is reached quickly and rewards hikers with a 360-degree view of Park City at the top.

Rob’s Trail

Offering gorgeous views of aspen groves and the nearby resorts, this moderate trail begins at Bear Hollow Drive. After winding gradually up the south side of Utah Olympic Park, the trail’s summit provides terrific views of Kimball Junction.

Bloods Lake Trail

This newly-renovated, family-friendly trail includes a lake as part of its offerings. The trailhead is located just below Guardsman Pass, and its brilliant fall foliage makes it ideal for hiking, with shaded areas throughout. Closes in November when Guardsman Pass closes for the season.

Three Terrific Ways to Brunch in Park City

Park City offers an amazing array of restaurant selections that feature everything from pub food to fine dining. Brunch, however, has evolved over the years to become more than a meal—they’re now considered high culinary art! Here are three of our favorite places for brunch in the PC. First, head over to Hearth and Hill for inspired, contemporary American cuisine. Brooks and Catherine Kirchheimer offer delectable brunches with vegan and gluten-free options and includes everything from blintzes to Banana Dutch Baby Pancakes.

Next, check out The Silver Star Café for regional food with a cultural flair, prepared from scratch. Their Saturday and Sunday brunches have garnered kudos from Forbes and USA Today, along with a feature on the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.” Lastly, don’t miss the High West Brunch at Blue Sky for a unique brunch experience. You’ll find an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet along with mimosas and High West cocktails. Call us at (877) 649-3600 for details, and ask us about our Summer Specials, including military, repeat guest, and AAA discounts.

Wet and Wild Water Fun: Three Ways

June in Park City is an amazing combination of warm breezes, breathtaking scenery, and a plethora of activities and events. This is the time to break out the swimsuits and celebrate the beginning of the summer season on the water. Whether it’s swimming, boating, paddle boarding, or tubing, make this your best summer vacation ever with our suggestions for wonderful water fun. First, take off on a paddle-boarding adventure with a little help from Park City SUP. They offer everything from rentals to lessons, tours, and group activities.

If you’d rather be tubing, get ready to float the mighty Weber with everything you need from Barefoot Tubing. They provide tubes, life jackets, and even shuttle you to and from the river – all you have to do is float and have fun! Or, why not gather up a group for a cruise on the Jordanelle? Jordanelle Rentals & Marina can outfit you with everything from the largest pontoon boat to ski boats, fishing boats, and even jet skis. Lastly, don’t miss out on our Countdown to Summer discounts. Call us at (877) 649-3600 for details, and don’t forget to ask about our military, repeat guest and AAA discounts.

Food, Glorious Food

Park City is renowned for Sundance, Olympic events, world-class skiing, hiking and biking trails, and much more. Although fabulous food may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you are visiting here, we are also famous for our terrific, multi-cultural selection of restaurants. With that in mind, we are listing four recent additions to the local eateries here, all within walking distance to Newpark Resort! First up is Hearth and Hill, whose mission is to provide a gathering spot with “a fresh, new, approachable take on contemporary American cuisine, locally driven.”

Offering lunch, dinner, and live music three times a week, they also feature online ordering for pickup. Next, check out Bartolo’s. Described as “an artisanal restaurant and neighborhood spot with an Italian-inspired kitchen specializing in handcrafted pasta that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner,” they also offer terrific coffee and are open seven days a week. Also, don’t miss a visit to 11 Hauz for authentic Jamaican food prepared from legacy family recipes. In the mood for Tom Yum Soup, dumplings, curry, and noodles? It’s a quick jaunt to Kimball Junction for Thai So Good, and their terrific selection of Thai cuisine, along with beer and wine.

The Best Way to Hit the Trail

Park City is one of the country’s most popular outdoor destinations, with approximately 400 miles of trails nestled in the surrounding mountains and valleys. Open to all, these trails are ideal for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, e-biking and running. The summer alpine trail season can begin as early as last April and includes Glenwild Trail, Round Valley, Armstrong Trail, the Historic Rail Trail, Millenium Trail, Mid Mountain, and Wasatch Crest, to name a few. Glenwild and the Millenium Trails can be accessed from Newpark Resort. Before you head out, consider the following tips for safety and trail etiquette.

First, pick up a bell – use it, and listen for others on the trail. Next, keep a “weather eye” out for storm clouds, as sudden downpours of rain can occur in conjunction with fluctuating temperatures. If biking, be aware that you do not have the right of way over horseback riders and those on foot. Also, uphill traffic has the right of way. Keep single track and stay away from muddy trails. Your canine companions should be leashed and their waste bagged up for the next available receptacle. Finally, the best advice is the simplest – smile, be kind, and remember the Golden Rule – do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Get Your Grüv On

Question: What’s the best cure for spring fever? Answer: A massive dose of Spring Grüv! This eagerly-anticipated annual event will feature 16 of the coolest spring days ever, with epic free concerts, skiing at Pink Park City, Saturday and Sunday S’Mores at the fire pits, meet and greets with ski patrollers and the avalanche dogs, and, for the pièce de résistance, the Pond Skimming Contest with outrageously-costumed contestants.

The fabulous live music lineup includes such powerhouse performers as the Changing Lanes Experience, the B.D. Howes Band, Triggers & Slips, Dr. Bob, The Bookends, Simply B., Dead Cowboys, The Breakfast Klub, Classic Steve, and many others. DJ Velvet will keep the jams going between live shows, and you can test your knowledge on a variety of subjects at the Megamind PubQuiz Power Hour Trivia Challenge. 2019’s Spring Grüv is presented and managed by Park City Mountain and will be held from March 23 – April 7. For your own Spring Grüv experience, call us at (877) 649-3600, and don’t forget to inquire about our discounts for military, first responders, repeat guests, and AAA members.

Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter: A Model of Sustainability

These days, most of us feel that it’s our shared responsibility to support sustainable/green ideas, products, and businesses. Two local ideal examples of such progressive thinking are the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter, and the town of Park City, which is the state’s first LEED-certified neighborhood development and has set a goal of using 100% renewable electricity by 2032. Newpark Resort is also working diligently to increase sustainability in 2019 and beyond, with an annual financial commitment to Swaner and as part of Recycle Utah’s Green Business Program.

Our location at Swaner’s perimeter allows our guests to easily access this 1,200-acre combination of wildlife/nature preserve, miles of trails, and a 10,000-square-foot, cutting edge, LEED platinum-certified environmental museum and education center. With its focus on wetland restoration, wildlife protection, and ecosystem preservation, Swaner provides a safe habitat for an abundant array of wildlife and around 90 species of birds. Visitors can participate in a variety of activities, such as hiking and snowshoeing, in addition to various traveling exhibits. To make a date for your visit to Swaner and Park City, call us at (877) 649-3600, and be sure to ask about discounts for military, first responders, repeat guests, and AAA members.
