While primarily known for sports, the park also offers a glimpse into the region’s Olympic legacy from the 2002 Winter Games. Main Street, the epicenter of this transformation, is lined with beautifully restored buildings dating back to the late 19th century. Here, visitors can enjoy guided historical tours that recount the tales of miners, the discovery of silver, and how this precious metal shaped the town.

For those interested in a deeper historical dive, the Park City Museum on Main Street is a must-visit. The museum’s exhibits cover everything from the mining days to the skiing boom and the town’s evolution into a film festival hosted by the Sundance Institute. Trail Tips for Every Season

Park City’s trails are a shared space for hikers, bikers, and equestrians, and following proper etiquette ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Stay on designated trails to protect the environment and avoid creating new paths. Always yield appropriately—bikers yield to hikers, and both yield to horses, while those going downhill should yield to those going uphill. Announce your presence when passing and keep pets leashed and under control. Pack out all trash, including pet waste, and respect wildlife by keeping a safe distance. Be mindful of trail conditions, avoiding use when muddy to prevent damage. By following these guidelines, all users can help preserve and enjoy Park City’s extensive trail system.

Here are some more useful tips to make your hike a pleasure for you and everyone also on the trails.

Check Conditions: Trails change with the seasons! Visit Mountain Trails Foundation or Swaner Preserve for updates.

Dress in Layers: Mountain weather can shift quickly—bring layers, even in summer.

Respect Wildlife & Nature: Keep the trails clean and give wildlife space.

Know Your Trail Etiquette: Mountain bikers yield to hikers; everyone yields to horses.

Hydrate & Snack Smart: High-altitude adventures require extra water and fuel.

The Kimball Arts Festival

For more than 50 years, talented artists from all over the world have competed to showcase their artwork at the renowned Kimball Arts Festival. This year, artists from 28 states and three countries will showcase their work spanning 12 mediums, including ceramics, digital art, metalwork, painting, and more. From August 5 – 7, 2022, festival attendees can enjoy original art, live music, artist demonstrations, kids’ art classes, education programs, craft beer, and artisan cuisine.

All proceeds from the Kimball Arts Festival will support the Kimball Art Center. The center is a community made up of more than 85,000 artists and art enthusiasts committed to celebrating and developing their creativity. The Kimball Art Center strives to make art accessible in the Park City community through educational programs, events, and art exhibitions.

5-Year Celebration of E-Bike Share

Newport Resort is excited to celebrate the fifth year of fewer cars on the road and cleaner air in the sky. In July 2017, Park City, Utah, launched Summit Bike Share, the country’s first fully-electric bike-share program. Today, visitors and residents are adopting this fun and accessible way to experience the beauty of Park City.

A Cleaner Way to Ride

Summit Bike Share began with a simple mission: solve regional issues with a regional solution. This e-bike sharing program lets visitors and residents lower their carbon footprint and reduce air pollution while running errands, commuting to work, or exploring the beauty of our town.

The program is simple. Just download the app on Android or iPhone, choose a membership, unlock your bike and go. Summit Bike Share has 20 e-bike stations around the city, including one at Newpark Resort, the highest capacity kiosk in the area. A single ride is $3.50, and an annual membership is $96.44 for residents and employees.

Just Start Pedaling

An electric bike may look like a regular bike, but it’s built for speed. Designed with a motor, battery, and controller, you can ride sweat-free around town all day. All of Summit Bike Share’s e-bikes have electric assist. This bike mode gives you the extra boost you may want (or need!) when you pedal through Park City’s hilly terrain.

Before your Park City trip ends, we recommend the 45-minute bike ride to the historic Main Street from Newpark Resort. Enjoy delicious dining options, great shopping, and excellent people-watching in the heart of Park City. Another guest favorite is the 25-minute ride to White Barn, also known as McPolin Farm, where you can enjoy plenty of photo opportunities.

Next time you visit Newpark Resort, we invite you to ditch the car and explore the beauty around you on two wheels. Text us to learn more about this exciting bike-share program and all of the other activities waiting for you in Park City.
